About the artist:
Andrew Stephen is a Tanzanian born photographer, graphic designer, and street artist. His work is inspired by everyday moments in contemporary urban African life. Stephen’s work has been featured at various exhibitions, such as, the University of Dar-es-Salaam Talent Fever Exhibition, and Bookstop Sanaa East Africa. In collaboration with the Dar es Salaam Center for Architectural Heritage (DARCH), Stephen’s recent project, Mtaani, Maskani (which loosely translates from Swahili to the Street, the Home), commemorates through photography the stillness of public ceremonies amidst a hectic bustling Dar es Salaam city. Stephen enjoys traveling, listening to East African rap music, and drinking chai.
